NEW YEAR NEW START!!

Welcome back to the all-new weekly Felda Fitness Column. January is a great time to get motivated and focussed on your health and fitness. With all the doom and gloom in the current economic climate, the idea of going to the gym to get fit and enjoy yourself can be a great stress reliever.

The feeling of achievement after your workout is the best natural high and a great way to maintain balance in your life. No matter what your current fitness levels are you’ll be amazed at just how much your body composition can change in just 8 weeks of healthy eating and exercise. So, you’ve decided to get fit in the New Year! Firstly congratulations now let Felda’s weekly columns assist you in achieving your goals.

This week focuses on some very simple steps to get you started. It’s important not to try and change too much too soon and risk injury or burn out.

Goals are set, Motivation is high, Where do you start? There are a few guidelines that need to be followed to ensure you get on the right road to achieving your goals. If you follow the simple Do & Don’t guide below there will be no stopping you!

DO - Set Days/Time aside to do your training

DON’T - Just try to fit it in whenever you can

DO - Start off easy and build up over time-Adding days workouts etc.

DON’T - Exercise everyday if you are not a regular exerciser

DO - Try to train with a partner or friend to help keep motivation & workouts

DON’T - Walk late in the Evening or in areas that you are not familiar with 

DO - Get advise from a qualified trainer to help you plan your workouts

DON’T - Try to do everything at the one time-e.g not smoking , changing diet etc. Change one thing at a time.

Get started now - Don’t put it off .Nothing will change unless you make the effort to do something .Good Luck & keep trying

Next week we’ll publish some handy workout tips, from what clothes to wear, where you can go to exercise i.e. gyms, running tracks, clubs. As Dundalk’s largest gym we’ll also publish a weekly workout for the next 8 weeks.
