CUSAI and the Irish Hockey Association will again be running a Colleges and Universities Hockey League for all third level institutions during the 2008/2009 hockey season / academic year.

Continuing on from the success of last year, this league is not designed for elite level players who play at a high level in Irish hockey. This league is designed for teams that are not currently playing in a league structure and wish to get involved in competitive hockey. This will be a fun, competitive league that may be the ideal opportunity to further develop your hockey club.

Divisions will be regionalised, as far as possible, to decrease travel costs. In order to maximize the number of games being played in the league, each division will be operated on a blitz basis. Teams will each host a round of the league where each team will complete a number of their division fixtures for the season. It is expected that there will be a maximum of four rounds spread throughout the academic calendar. There is also a possibility of a knockout cup competition which will depend on the level of entries. Exact competition format shall be decided on receipt of entries.

Closing date for entries is Monday, 6th October 2008 . The entry fee is €75 per team. Colleges wishing to enter more than one team will be subject to a €50 fee per additional team. Each team shall consist of 16 registered players. Registration procedure of players will be circulated once application form and entry fee is submitted. Non CUSAI Member institutions will have to pay an additional CUSAI competition affiliation fee of €150.

Each institution shall be subject to the Irish Colleges Hockey Association (ICHA) annual affiliation fee details of which TBC at this year's ICHA AGM.
