The cut and thrust of international cross country competition is nothing new to the current crop of University students who compete in the World Cross Country Championships with no fewer than four athletes having taken part in the World Senior Championships last weekend in Scotland.
The Women's squad contains three of those athletes with Fionnuala Britton, Deirdre Byrne & Linda Byrne leading the effort where the women are aiming to collect a first medal at this competition.
Last time out Britton finished 6th helping her teammates to a fourth place finish overall, but the Wicklow native will be looking to help spur her colleagues onto the podium on this occasion.
The Men's squad are led by Michael Clohisey and Colm Turner who have both impressed in recent weeks at the Senior & Intervarsity Cross Country Championships, looking to improve on their 9th place finish in Turin, Italy in 2006.
